I am highly interested in astronomy, amazed by every new discovery made and to learn and understand about our universe is to know more about ourselves.
It would be great to see more narrated videos on every site, such as on space.com but miss videos.
Not sure if u think of multiverses theory with '' parallel universes'' but if it is same theory i am highly interested as multi universes space would explain how our part became 'living'. I don't believe in big bang that started in universe full of gas, it is just to simple.

Thanks for your work, if it were no people like u i couldn't learn anything about my interests here in Bosnia and Herzegovina, life is hard here but knowledge is important and even hungry we must learn hehehe

I like your site, so all positive feedback from me. I am a real solar system fan & I have always been fascinated by Io & your discovery, which in my mind is still one of the all time greatest in science, not just Space Science & Astronomy. I hope you have an asteroid named after you, you deserve that honour at the very least & / or a hill on Io, etc. I hope you see my e-mail address, I would like you to have it. Any idea when Parallel Universes will be published? I have been hoping to get my hands on a copy for a very long time. Linda is a brilliant scientist who possess a depth, insight, and passion for life and our universe which is both fascinating and relevant. I truly hope that this project is moving forward and we will all have the opportunity for Linda to share a more indepth view of her life experiences.

I totally endorse Linda Morabito's memoirs. As a professor of astronomy at a four year college in new York City, I find her knowledge and past experience to be excellent. She is devoted to educating the public about space and therefore, I shall utilize her Space Place and memoirs for my own courses that I teach.

Linda, I am looking forward to reading your memoir, "Parallel Universes". Please let us know when it becomes available to buy. I believe that we see the hand of God in our universe, and that a scientist who eschews the spiritual aspect of existence is missing a large and important part of discovering the truth.

Your website is awesome and my own students find the concepts of parallel universes and string and M-theory amazing. What are your thought about the ekpyrotic and eternal inflation theories proposed by our colleagues?

Linda, I have not read nor seen any part of your memoirs, but the fact that you mention your Christian faith leads me to believe it is something that needs to be published. I have a lifelong passion for science, and a lifelong commitment to Jesus Christ as well. I believe a scientist can also be a Christian; that he needn't park his brains to have faith in God. I further believe that a scientist should be truly open-minded, and not discount the spiritual part of man and the universe. By turning a blind eye to the spiritual aspect of nature, a scientist is truly blind to a vast realm of scientific knowledge..

Dear Linda,

I found out about your extraordinary success stories through 'class notes' on the USC website, and wanted to say Congratulations to a fellow Trojan alumni. I am motivated when I come across women who have made tremendous strides in male-dominated fields. Thank you for being an inspiration!

Fight on!

Linda, thank you for your e-mail. If I am not mistaken, I saw you on Carl Sagan's Cosmos series back in the early 1980s when I was in high school. Yes, I do remember your discoveries of the Io volcanoes. In my humble opinion, that was one of the greatest astronomical discoveries of all time. It really shook the scientific community, and I even recall my science teachers talking about it. I am glad to know you're still into astronomy and space exploration!!

∑ Your interest in scientific discovery in space:
Having been one of the research scientists at Martin Marietta (1971-1978) working on life detection systems and landing site selection for Viking and later on accelerated aging of electro-explosives for Voyager, my interest in space exploration is still hot today.

∑ What material you would like to see on this site:
Anything is good. Of course, NASA has some wonderful sites, so anything that complements would be great. In particular, I would love to see the aesthetic side of things and the melding of art with science--and I mean more than visual art, I mean literary art. I suppose it’s the poet in me that’s speaking now, but I believe my physics has gotten better because of creative outlets.

∑ Your interest in the memoir "Parallel Universes":
This sounds like a fascinating story and I would be interested in reading it. Of course, it would be valuable to the scientific community—the history of science is so important to let our students. It’s important for them to learn that scientists are human and have a life. We are not a bundle of equations. And such a profession is achievable by the average person with drive and is not limited to the geniuses of the world. (In fact, the famous astrophysicist, Fritz Zwicky, would argue that everyone is a genius and it’s up to him/her to develop it.) But the book would be valuable also because it addresses matters of faith, This is sadly almost a taboo subject or something relegated to the closet by many. I think it is wonderful that this book will be candid. As a Christian, I look forward to what it will say.

I've been an elementary and middle school teacher for thirty-two years. Every year, I present new astronomy information to all my students. Whenever Jupiter is discussed, I make it a point to show incredible pictures of Jupiter's closest moon, Io. Then, I point out that it was Linda Morabito, a female astronomer/scientist who discovered active volcanoes on this moon! Every year, I challenge my female students to become more interested in science. Perhaps one of my students will also make a great discovery, too! I thank Linda for her hard work, devotion, and for inspiring my female students to become interested in astronomy and any other fields of science.

I am very " green" when it comes to the heavens and its contents...but it has such an allure! To see science nad faith brought together will be wonderful. I "feel" a connection is there and to get Linda's observations will be incredible!
I am smiling because I was in a class with Ms. L and as we were going over a problem on the board- one of the students piped up and said " when in real life- are we ever gonna use this stuff!!??" It now has come clear to me that his eyes are open but his mind is shut. I am looking forward to filling my mind!!!! I can't wait for the book!

Subject: Parallel Universes

Linda's book will have a wide appeal in the religious and scientific communities. It will be a great attraction to astronomers and church members. This promised book would bring an important link between science and religion.

Though we think we are different, we find that we all have common experiences and beliefs. Scientists have an uneasy relationship with spiritual matters because things spiritual don’t always lend themselves to measuring instruments. In examining the heavens, scientists point instruments upward to discover an ever increasing and ever expanding universe populated by an untold number of objects. It is mind boggling to imagine the physical nature of the universe. When taken on a spiritual level, scientists intuitively know there is some power behind the operation and existence of the universe.

I am waiting to read Linda’s take on her life’s experiences, our universe and the spiritual connection between universe, the science and us.

Thanks,
Harold Johnson

Hi Linda!
I enjoyed seeing you on various science programs - especially Cosmos. I was so proud that a fellow sister made such an important scientific discovery.
What made you get into science? Did you love it as a chi;d as I did? I would very much like to read your new book.
I would love to see on this site the projects that you are currently working on and your views on what you think are important projects in the works right now at JPL. I'd like you to have a blog with your views on what you think the unverse is about; life on other planets, etc. A blog where people can get your personal views and not just prom a professional stand ponts. Also, what was it like to work in a male dominated firld? How has science impacted your personal life?

O look forwwrd to reading your blog!

My interest in unmanned space exploration was lighted by 2 events which I saw in the TV news as a teenager;
seeing Gerry Soffen during Viking missions in 1976 and seeing Linda Morabito talking about the Io discovery in 1979...
Whenever there's a Voyager anniversary I try to mention the Io discovery, as I did in my latest article...
I wondered if You would accept to autograph that photo, which I could mail to You in a self-addressed envelope?
Looking forward to Your answer, I thank You in advance and wish You all the best with Your current work!

Linda, like I stated in my message, you did it and it was only a matter of time. Now the world awaits your message, specifically students with whom we have worked for decades, and want them to continuously aim at success. You believed success was at the other end of your efforts and you have to continued to seek it. Finally it appeared. What a moment of JOY. All the Best in your future endeavours. Onward and Upward.
